Why People Conclude God is Evil

Notice premise #2 is where we have bought the most fatal lie.

1) Evil exists
2) Man is basically good
3) Thus, evil must come from something not-man
4) God is not-man
5) God is evil

A false understanding of who man is leads to a false understanding of who God is. Bad anthropology makes for bad theology.

The Intended Purpose of Missions

"...any good-hearted goal, without the desire to give people eternal joy in God, is condemnation with a kind face." - John Piper

Pray with me for our missionaries, especially for our InterVarsity teams currently serving domestically and overseas - that they would not trifle with the eternal souls of those they were sent to reach. The gospel is not mere good works and service and loving deeds and injustice-fighting. It is all that. But the curses and blessings of this world is nothing in comparison to true everlasting joy in salvation. And salvation only comes through faith in Jesus Christ. There is no other way. Serve and love people, yes, but unless you point them to the one true God of love, in the end your labor is done in vain and your acts of kindness does no service to anyone.

God is the gospel. The gospel is the gift of Himself.

Easter Outreach, take some free books please!

I'm partnering with DesiringGod (the ministry of John Piper, www.desiringgod.com) this Easter to get the life-transforming, hope-bringing, and Christ-centered gospel message out to my communities. I have over 100 copies of Fifty Reasons Why Jesus Came to Die, by John Piper to give out to you all for free. If you have any friends or family that you might want to reach out to, this would be a solid book to give them. In fact, a book like this is just as necessary for you, Christians.

It is profoundly important that we know exactly the purpose of the cross. One of the biggest injustices - no, the biggest injustice - throughout all history is man's continual ignorance (and also rejection) of God's climactic expression of his mercy and grace in the slaughtering of his Son. I can think of no greater injustice than to rob the inifintely worthy Christ of his glory and praise. Some people are hardened to the gospel, but I find that most are just gospel-ignorant. Peoples of all nations and tongues cannot and will not believe, cherish, and glorify Christ unless they understand the magnitude of his obedient death to justify the unjust.

So let us embrace the humbling reminder of Easter and prayerfully consider having intentional conversations with our friends and family about the reality of eternal condemnation apart from Christ and eternal life in Christ. Hopefully this book can jumpstart those conversations. It's layed out in an easy-to-read format. There are 50 reasons, each reason being only about 2 pages long. Just shoot me an e-mail or call me if you want me to save some copies for you. Right now I'm thinking of dispersing them at my church and my work. You can do the same! Just let me know how many you want.

"The death of Jesus is of foremost importance for the world. And the central issue of Jesus’ death is not the cause, but the meaning—God’s meaning.

In this book, revised and updated from the previously published The Passion of Jesus Christ, John Piper has gathered from the New Testament fifty reasons behind the crucifixion of the Christ. Not fifty causes, but fifty purposes—in answer to the most important question facing us in the twenty-first century: Why did Jesus suffer and die"

Reality Check

"Preachers, you're not professionals; you're not businessmen; you're not little boys running around serving the community. You're prophets or you're nothing! To bring a word from God. These people are dying! The wrath of God lays waste your community, even as we speak. How many people will be swept today by the wrath of God through death in Hell? And you're worried about whether or not someone feels good about themselves?"

The Messiah has come

Merry Christmas everyone!

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us [John 1:14]

The first time that you opened your eyes - did you realize that you would be my savior?
And the first breath that left your lips - did you know that it would change this world forever?

- Relient K
